STAHLMAN DESIGN

Drafting & 3D scanning for architectural stone

Measuring a job site

1. I take serveral photos before measuring.

2. Next I write down measurements directly on top of the photos (including some redundant measurements for error correction).

3. I can estimate the square footage by reading my hand-drawn measurements. Avoid doing a CAD drawing to get an exact estimate, because the project may not be approved…

Some example projects:

Measure what exists and don’t assume things are straight. The stone will be designed to fit an uneven backing.

Yellow lines to remind myself this will be filled with dirt

2

Notes to self written on photo to remember requirements of foreman

3

Tape measurements written on rough LiDAR scan in plan view

Typical terrasse, but with columns to work around
